Caelum, Foxrock
This project consisted of an extension for a private client who was confined to a wheelchair and had very limited upper body mobility. The client did not have full time carers, so the key requirement was to design an extension that would allow the client complete control over his environment. The extension is very highly serviced and includes an infra-red voice activated control system. Access control and alarm systems, doors, windows, heating, gas fire, passenger lift and blinds are all operated by voice control, with optional manual over-ride controls for use by carers.
The entertainment system and the mood lighting are also voice activated. The control software is programmed with a series of macro commands, which will carry out a number of tasks on a single command. The extension was designed to be contemporary in style, and is highly insulated. Consideration was given to the Client’s changing needs and all systems could be adapted to head control at a later date if so required.
